Zouma is a town in the eastern part of Chongqing municipality, in the hilly, heavily dissected country of the upper Yangtze region. Flat land is rare here, and from above the town's streets squeeze into the available valley floors and along ridges instead of forming a regular grid.
The countryside around it is a patchwork of terraced fields, small villages and wooded slopes, typical of rural Chongqing. Roads wind in long curves to follow the contours, and on a map they look like loose threads connecting settlements across uneven ground.
