De kaart
Afif Map Poster & Print
Afif lies in the Riyadh Region of Saudi Arabia, in the western part of the Najd plateau. It sits on the long highway route between Riyadh and the Hejaz, and has grown into a regional centre for the surrounding desert communities, with services, schools and markets serving a wide area.
From above, Afif shows the planned layout typical of modern towns on the Arabian plateau. Wide roads divide the town into large rectangular blocks, and neighbourhoods fill the grid at a steady density. Beyond the edge, the desert opens out with few features apart from roads, farms and tracks leading in straight lines to the horizon.
An Afif map poster is a clean, geometric composition. The town's grid stands out sharply against the empty land around it, and the highways run away in long straight lines. There are no rivers or coastlines here, so the pattern of streets does all the work, which gives the print a calm, orderly look.

Highway corridor
Afif sits on a major route across central Arabia. The highway's straight line cuts across the map and links the town to distant cities.
Open desert
Beyond the built-up area, the land is flat and largely empty, with only straight tracks and scattered farms marking the ground.
