Irrigation canals
Channels cross the plain in long, straight lines and divide into smaller branches. On the poster they form the strongest pattern outside the town itself.

Al Maḩāwīl Map Poster & Print
Al Maḩāwīl lies in Babil province in central Iraq, north of Hillah on the road toward Baghdad. The land is the flat alluvial plain between the Tigris and the Euphrates, where farming has depended on irrigation for thousands of years. There are no hills here, so the canals and roads define the landscape.
The town's streets form a loose grid around the main road. Canals run past the built-up area in long, straight lines. Branch channels divide the surrounding land into narrow fields, and palm groves and farms follow the water.
A Al Maḩāwīl map poster shows a town shaped by water on a flat plain. Straight canals and the main road set the structure, and the town fills the space where they meet. The composition is flat, orderly and quite graphic.

The main road
The road between Hillah and Baghdad runs through the town. The street grid is arranged around it, which gives the map a clear central axis.
Farmland strips
Narrow fields and groves line the canals. At poster scale they add a light, linear texture that surrounds the denser town.
