Bīna lies in Sagar district of Madhya Pradesh, on the plateau country of central India. Seen from above, the town is organised by the railway: lines approach from several directions and meet at the junction, with the older streets pressed close to the station and newer neighbourhoods spreading outward over flat, open ground.
The junction is one of the important rail crossroads of the region, linking routes between north and central India. Beyond the town, a large oil refinery adds a very different geometry to the landscape, with its tank farms and internal roads forming clean, repeated shapes that read almost like a diagram when drawn in black and white.
