Calasiao lies in the province of Pangasinan, on the flat lowlands just inland from Dagupan and the Lingayen Gulf. The land is low and crossed by rivers and irrigation channels. From above, the town appears as a central cluster of streets, linked by main roads to neighbouring towns, with fields and fishponds spreading outward.
The town is widely known for puto Calasiao, small rice cakes sold across the region, and for the Saint Paul the Apostle Church, a large Spanish colonial church in the town centre. Around the church and plaza, the older street pattern is more regular, reflecting its colonial planning.
