Fuling tomb
The mausoleum of Nurhaci sits on a wooded hill. Its long ceremonial approach and walled enclosure show clearly as a formal, symmetric shape within the greenery.

Dongling Map Poster & Print
Dongling is a district on the eastern side of Shenyang, the capital of Liaoning province. On the map it runs from the edge of the city's dense core out toward open, hilly country, and the Hun River passes through its southern part. Wide new avenues and large residential compounds fill much of the land between the city and the hills.
The district takes its name from the Eastern Tomb, the Fuling mausoleum of Nurhaci. He founded the Later Jin dynasty, which later became the Qing. The tomb sits on a forested hillside and is part of the UNESCO World Heritage site of the Imperial Tombs of the Ming and Qing Dynasties. On the map, its axis and the surrounding woodland form a calm, green enclave.
Beyond the tomb, the landscape opens up. Farmland and low wooded hills mix with newer development along the main roads. A Dongling map poster captures the eastern edge of a large northern Chinese city. Here planned blocks meet river and hills, and a historic site sits among modern growth, clearly set apart by its trees.

Hun River
The broad river crosses the south of the district. Its embankments and riverside parks form a strong horizontal band across the lower part of the map.
City meets hills
Toward the east, Shenyang's grid gives way to low hills and fields, and the poster records the change from dense blocks to open land.
