De kaart
Liaozhong Map Poster & Print
Liaozhong lies on the lower Liao River plain in central Liaoning, southwest of Shenyang, which now administers it as a district. The land here is almost completely flat, so the urban area is a neat, compact grid sitting inside a much larger pattern of farmland, drainage channels and rural roads.
The contrast between the town and the countryside is what defines the map. The streets at the centre are regular and closely spaced. Around them, long straight field boundaries and irrigation lines stretch outward, broken now and then by villages and by the looping courses of the rivers crossing the plain.
The area has long been farming country in the fertile northeast of China, with the Liao and Hun rivers shaping its soils. A Liaozhong map poster works almost like a study in geometry: a dense core, straight roads leading out, and a landscape ruled into plots by generations of cultivation.

Field geometry
Beyond the built-up area, straight field edges and channels divide the plain into a fine pattern that gives the whole map its texture.
River plain
Rivers wind across the flat country nearby, adding a few free curves to a landscape that is otherwise shaped by straight lines.
