Errachidia Map Poster
Errachidia lies in southeastern Morocco, on the Ziz River, between the High Atlas and the Sahara. Known as Ksar es Souk until the 1970s, it grew as an administrative and military centre, and much of the town was laid out on a regular plan. From above, straight avenues and rectangular blocks contrast with the irregular green strip of the river valley.
The Ziz is the lifeline of the region. North of the town, the Hassan Addakhil dam holds a reservoir, and downstream the valley opens into the palm groves of the Tafilalet. On the map, the river and its oasis appear as a winding band cutting through an otherwise dry, open landscape.
