Fāẕelābād lies in Golestan province in north-eastern Iran, between the wooded foothills of the Alborz range to the south and the flat, farmed plain that runs down toward the Caspian Sea. On a map the town sits on the transition between them. Roads to the north run straight across the fields, while to the south they begin to bend.
The region is one of Iran's greener corners, with rainfall and forest that set it apart from the dry interior. Towns along this corridor are linked by the main east–west road between Gorgan and the eastern parts of the province. Fāẕelābād is one of this chain of agricultural centres.
