Ginowan Map Poster & Print
Ginowan lies on the west coast of central Okinawa Island, facing the East China Sea. From above, the city has an unusual shape. Marine Corps Air Station Futenma occupies a large block in the middle, with a long runway, while the city's dense residential streets wrap around it on all sides. Along the coast, reclaimed land holds wider roads, parks and larger buildings.
The presence of the air station has long been a subject of debate in Okinawa, and its relocation has been discussed for decades. On the coast, the Okinawa Convention Center and Tropical Beach draw visitors and local families. The city is also part of the continuous urban belt that runs along the west coast between Naha and the island's central towns.
A Ginowan map poster captures a city defined by its centre as much as by its streets. The large, open area of the base and its runway contrasts with the tight residential grid around it, while the coastline adds calm curves on the western side. It is an unusual, thought-provoking map with a very recognisable outline.

Coastal strip
Along the East China Sea, reclaimed land holds a convention centre, a beach and parks, laid out more loosely than the streets inland.
Surrounding streets
Residential neighbourhoods fill the rest of the city in a fine, irregular grid that wraps closely around the base's boundary.
