Datong River valley
The town lies in the wide valley of the Datong River. The flat ground explains the compact, level street plan, and the river corridor gives the map a clear directional line.

Haomen Map Poster & Print
Haomen is the county seat of Menyuan Hui Autonomous County, in the northeast of Qinghai province. It sits in the Datong River valley, where the Qilian Mountains open into a wide basin at close to three thousand metres. From above, the town is a small, tight cluster of streets on flat valley ground, with the mountains holding their distance on both sides.
The street pattern is simple and easy to read. A few main roads carry traffic through the centre, and shorter blocks fill the spaces between them. Past the edges, the fine lines of town streets give way to the looser shapes of fields, farm tracks and watercourses. On a Haomen map poster, that contrast between the dense core and the open valley around it sets the look of the whole print.
Menyuan is known across China for the rapeseed fields that turn the valley yellow in early summer, and many visitors pass through Haomen on their way to see them. The county also has a large Hui Muslim community, which is part of its name. The map leaves out colour and season, but it keeps the setting: a small town at the centre of a high agricultural plain.

Compact town centre
The streets are dense in the middle and thin out quickly toward the edges. The built area reads as one small, clearly outlined shape against the surrounding land.
Farmland at the edges
Around the town, the lines on the map change from streets to field boundaries and rural roads. This is the agricultural basin known for its summer rapeseed bloom.

Waarom Haomen
Een kaart met betekenis
For people who grew up in Menyuan, or who travelled through the valley in flowering season, a map of Haomen is a quiet reminder of a particular place: a small town on a high plain, with open ground on every side. The plain linework suits the modest scale of the town and doesn't try to make it look bigger than it is.
You can personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line, for example with a family name, a travel date or the valley's altitude. Choose from five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. Digital HD files cost $9, and printed posters on matte paper, framed or unframed, ship from partners in more than 30 countries.
