Houba Map Poster & Print
Houba is a small town in the north-east of Chongqing municipality, in the mountainous country north of the Yangtze. The landscape around it is steep and folded, so the town sits where the land is flattest, in a valley along a river. Its streets follow the curve of the water and the base of the slopes.
On a map, Houba is long and narrow rather than round, squeezed between hills. Roads leave the valley in tight switchbacks, climbing towards villages and terraced fields on the slopes. Much of the surrounding area is farmland cut into steps on the hillsides, which shows up as a fine, contoured pattern around the town.
A Houba map poster reflects this terrain-shaped layout. The river, the linear town and the winding roads make a lively composition, even for a small place. It is a personal choice for those with family ties here and captures the character of the Chongqing hills.

Winding roads
Roads leave the town in tight bends as they climb the slopes. They add expressive, looping lines to the edges of the map.
Terraced slopes
Farmland on the surrounding hills is cut into terraces and small plots. The pattern creates a delicate texture around the built-up area.
