Kalamnūri sits on the Deccan upland of Hingoli district, in the Marathwada part of Maharashtra. From above, the town looks compact. A dense core of lanes and closely packed plots gathers around the roads that meet here. Past that core, the lines thin out quickly and give way to the geometry of cultivated land.
As the headquarters of its taluka, the town serves the villages around it, and you can see this on the map. Roads come in from several directions and meet near the centre. Smaller tracks branch off towards farming settlements. It is a pattern shaped by trade and administration more than by any grand plan.
