Kota Kuala Muda Map Poster & Print
Kota Kuala Muda lies on the coast of Kedah, at the mouth of the Muda River, which marks the border between Kedah and Penang. From above, it is a small place in a wide landscape: a short strip of streets along the river and the shore, surrounded by mangroves, fishing channels and the flat paddy country of the Kedah plain.
The river is the settlement's defining feature, and fishing boats and jetties line its banks near the estuary. The area was one of the places in Malaysia struck by the Indian Ocean tsunami of December 2004, and the event is still remembered locally. Today it remains a quiet coastal community rather than a large town.
A Kota Kuala Muda map poster is mostly about water and land. The winding lower course of the Muda, the coastline and the fine lines of rural roads create an open, almost abstract design, very different from the dense grids of larger Malaysian cities. It is a map for people who know the place well.

Coastline
The shore of the Strait of Malacca runs along the western edge. It forms a smooth line against the open water that bounds the composition.
Rural road pattern
Inland, thin roads follow field boundaries and canals across the flat plain and create a light, sparse texture around the small settlement.
