Oued Mzi palm groves
The oasis gardens follow the course of the Oued Mzi. On the ground they form a green belt, and on the map they become a finely divided pattern of plots and lanes.

Laghouat Map Poster & Print
Laghouat lies south of the Saharan Atlas, where Algeria's high plateaus give way to the desert. The city grew around an oasis on the Oued Mzi, and that setting is easy to read from above. A band of palm gardens follows the riverbed, rocky ridges rise beside the old town, and newer districts are laid out in wider blocks on flatter ground.
For centuries it has been described as a gateway to the Sahara, a stopping point on routes between the northern Tell and the southern oases. The older quarters were built close to the rock outcrops, so the historic core has an irregular, climbing street pattern. The straight avenues added later look quite different.
A Laghouat map poster shows desert architecture and planned growth in a single frame. The palm groves appear as soft, textured patches and the ridges as blank spaces between streets. The roads heading north and south are long lines leaving the city toward two very different landscapes.

Old town on the rocks
The historic quarters cling to rocky ridges, so the streets turn and narrow as they climb. The result is a tight, irregular core beside the broader modern grid.
Roads to the Sahara
Main routes leave the city northward toward the plateaus and southward toward the desert oases. These long, straight strokes place Laghouat within a much larger territory.
