Olona corridor
The river threads through the town from north to south, and the centre lines up with it. On the poster its course forms a thin line that ties the composition together.

Legnano Map Poster & Print
Legnano lies in the upper Olona valley in Lombardy, northwest of Milan. On the map the river runs roughly north to south through the town, and the historic centre follows it. Older streets sit close to the water, while newer districts spread across the level plain on either side. The built-up area merges with neighbouring towns, so the boundaries are more implied than drawn.
The name is known across Italy for the Battle of Legnano in 1176, when the Lombard League defeated Emperor Frederick Barbarossa. The victory is commemorated every year at the Palio di Legnano, a historical parade and horse race between the town's districts. The Italian national anthem also mentions Legnano by name.
In the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, Legnano became an important centre of the textile and engineering industries, and former factory sites still leave large blocks in the street pattern. A Legnano map poster shows the Olona corridor, the Visconti castle set among branches of the river, and the grid of industrial and residential blocks, all in one balanced frame.

Visconti castle
Near the river, the castle sits among branches of the Olona. Its green grounds make a distinctive pale patch in the otherwise continuous built-up area.
Industrial blocks
Large former factory sites appear as oversized blocks among ordinary streets. They record the town's manufacturing past directly in the map's geometry.
