Valley floor
The town concentrates where the land levels out, so its streets form a tight, distinct shape set against the thinner lines of the surrounding countryside.

De kaart
Lianhua Map Poster & Print
Lianhua is a town in the east of Gansu province, in the deeply eroded country of the Loess Plateau. Here the land is made of fine wind-blown soil that rain has carved into ridges, ravines and fan-shaped gullies, and settlements tend to gather on the flatter ground of valley floors, where water, farmland and roads come together.
On a map that setting is unmistakable. The built-up area forms a compact cluster, while the roads leading out of it curve and switch back to follow the contours of the hills. Around it, field boundaries and narrow tracks trace the terraces that have long been cut into loess slopes across this part of China.
A Lianhua map poster is less about dense streets and more about the relationship between a small town and a sculpted landscape. In black and white, the winding lines of roads and dry streambeds read almost like a drawing, giving the print a quiet, graphic quality that suits minimalist interiors.

Winding hill roads
Roads leaving town bend and double back as they climb the loess ridges, creating long flowing curves that give the composition a sense of movement.
Gully network
Branching ravines and seasonal watercourses spread across the plateau like the veins of a leaf, one of the most characteristic patterns of this region seen from above.
