Contour-led streets
Roads bend to follow the hillsides rather than cutting straight across them. The result is a flowing, organic street pattern typical of the mountainous Chongqing region.

De kaart
Longqiao Map Poster & Print
Longqiao lies within Chongqing municipality, in the steep, folded country of the Yangtze basin. Like much of this region, it does not sit on flat ground, and the map makes that obvious. Streets climb, switch back and follow the contours of the land, producing an irregular web that looks nothing like the rectilinear plans of cities on the plains.
From above, the built-up area appears as a dense cluster where the terrain allows it, thinning quickly into terraced fields, scattered villages and winding rural roads. Watercourses cut through the valleys and give the drawing its natural dividing lines. The overall impression is of a town shaped by slopes and water, with every road a compromise between the two.
A Longqiao map poster turns that complicated relief into a clean composition. Rendered in black and white, the curving streets and branching lanes become a kind of line drawing, dense at the centre and loosening toward the edges. It is a portrait of a place that most maps pass over, drawn at a scale where its own logic becomes visible.

Valley watercourses
Streams and small rivers run through the low ground between ridges. On the map they act as natural boundaries, separating clusters of streets and farmland.
Town-to-country edge
The dense core gives way quickly to fields and hamlets. That sharp transition from compact streets to open rural roads gives the poster strong contrast.
