Martin Map Poster & Print
Martin sits in the Turiec basin in northern Slovakia, a wide valley between two mountain ranges: the Malá Fatra to the west and the Veľká Fatra to the east. On a map, the town fills the valley floor with a compact old centre, housing estates of long apartment blocks, and an industrial area, while the forested mountain slopes rise around it with only a few roads.
Martin plays a major role in Slovak cultural history. It is home to Matica slovenská and the Slovak National Cemetery, and the 1918 Martin Declaration, which announced Slovak support for a shared state with the Czechs, was signed here. The Slovak National Library is also based in the town.
A Martin map poster shows a town built between mountains. The dense valley streets, the geometric housing estates and the empty slopes beyond make a clear design in black and white. It suits anyone with ties to Turiec, as well as those drawn to Martin's place in the story of Slovak culture.

Historic centre
The older streets gather around the main square in an irregular pattern. They form the finest-grained part of the map, where many of Martin's cultural institutions stand.
Housing estates
Large post-war estates sit around the centre in orderly rows of long blocks. Their repeated shapes add strong geometric rhythm to the composition.
