Missour lies in the upper Moulouya valley in eastern Morocco, between the Middle Atlas and the high plateaus that stretch toward the Algerian border. The country around it is dry and open. The Moulouya is one of Morocco's longest rivers and flows north-east toward the Mediterranean. Around Missour its water supports orchards, palms and small farm plots.
