Mudon is a town in Mon State in southern Myanmar, a short distance south of Mawlamyine on the road toward the south of the country. It lies on the flat coastal plain between the Andaman Sea and the forested hills inland. Rice paddies and rubber plantations fill much of the land around it.
From above, the town is organised along its main road, with side streets branching to both sides and a denser market area in the centre. Paddy fields surround the settlement on the plain, while the hills to the east rise out of the farmland. In those hills is Win Sein Taw Ya, a vast reclining Buddha that is among the largest in the world.
