Inland lagoons
Freshwater lagoons, including Lagoa do Bonfim, dot the land behind the coast. On paper they appear as calm, rounded shapes between the roads.

Nísia Floresta Map Poster & Print
Nísia Floresta lies on the coast of Rio Grande do Norte, south of Natal. From above, it is more a patchwork than a single compact town. A modest centre sits inland, and smaller settlements run along the Atlantic beaches, with freshwater lagoons and dunes in between. Water is everywhere on the map, in the ocean and in the inland lakes.
The municipality is named after Nísia Floresta Brasileira Augusta, the nineteenth-century writer and educator born here. She is remembered as one of Brazil's earliest advocates for women's education. The lagoons of the area, among them the large Lagoa do Bonfim, are well known locally and draw visitors from Natal.
A Nísia Floresta map poster turns that mix of lagoons, coast and scattered streets into an airy composition. The ocean edge runs along one side, the lagoons appear as smooth shapes inland, and the roads link small clusters of houses. The result is a map about landscape as much as settlement.
