Orlová Map Poster & Print
Orlová lies in the Ostrava–Karviná coalfield in the far east of the Czech Republic, close to the border with Poland. Its map is unusual for a town of its size: instead of a compact historic core, it shows several separate clusters of streets and large prefabricated housing estates, spaced out across a landscape shaped by more than a century of mining.
Underground coal extraction caused widespread subsidence, and during the twentieth century much of the old town centre was lost as buildings became unsafe. The result is a plan with gaps where streets once were, green spaces and water bodies where the ground sank, and residential districts rebuilt away from the most affected areas.
Railway lines and main roads link Orlová with Karviná, Havířov and Ostrava, threading between the neighbourhoods. An Orlová map poster makes that fragmented, industrial geography legible, turning a difficult history into a clear and quietly striking composition.

Mining-era landscape
Subsidence from coal mining left the terrain dotted with ponds and open land. On the poster these appear as irregular blank and water shapes between the districts.
Rail and road links
Tracks and roads run across the town toward neighbouring Karviná and Ostrava, stitching together the separate parts of Orlová and tying it to the wider industrial region.

Waarom Orlová
Een kaart met betekenis
Orlová is home to people with deep ties to the region's mining past, and many families have moved between its estates and neighbouring towns. A map poster holds the whole shape of the place, including the parts that no longer look the way they once did.
Set the title and subtitle to name an estate or a family, and add a date or coordinates line. Pick one of five styles, Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand, and choose digital files for $9 or a printed poster.
