Regular town grid
The centre is built as a fairly orderly grid of wide streets, a planned look that stands out clearly against the unbuilt plateau around it.

Qabqa Map Poster & Print
Qabqa is the seat of Gonghe County in Qinghai, and it sits nearly three kilometres above sea level on the broad Gonghe Basin. From above, the town looks compact against a very large, mostly empty landscape. Its streets form a fairly regular grid, and a few long roads run out across the plain.
The mountains south of Qinghai Lake rise to the north, and the basin stretches away to the south and west toward the Yellow River. On the map this gives a clear contrast between the dense town blocks and the open steppe around them. Anyone who knows the high plateau will recognise that sense of scale.
As the administrative centre of the Hainan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Qabqa is a stop on routes across eastern Qinghai. A Qabqa map poster keeps the essentials: the tight grid, the roads leading out, and the open ground that sets the town apart.

Roads across the basin
Long, straight roads run out from the town across the Gonghe Basin, connecting it to Qinghai Lake to the north and to the rest of the province.
Open high plateau
Around the built area the map is mostly empty space, a reminder that the town stands on high steppe with mountain ranges on the horizon.
