Sāveh Map Poster
Sāveh lies south-west of Tehran on the flat plain of Markazi province, at the edge of Iran's central desert. The city is organised around broad, straight avenues and a network of newer districts that extend outward in regular blocks. From above, the urban area is compact and well defined, bordered by farmland, orchards and industrial zones along the main highways.
The city is especially known for its pomegranates, grown in the orchards around it and regarded as some of the finest in Iran. Its Jameh Mosque, dating back to the Seljuk era, is one of the city's oldest buildings, and a tall brick minaret from the same period still stands in the town.
Sāveh also appears in the travels of Marco Polo, who described it as the town from which the Three Magi set out. A Sāveh map poster brings together that long history with the city's present form: a clear, orderly plan on an open plain, with roads leading toward Tehran, Qom and Hamadan.
