Serifos Map Poster & Print
Serifos is one of the western Cyclades, between Kythnos and Sifnos. From above it is a compact, roughly round island of dry hills. Its coastline is cut by many coves and several larger bays. The deepest opens in the southeast, where the harbour of Livadi sits at the head of a long, sheltered inlet.
Above the port, the Chora climbs a steep hill in a tight cluster of white houses. On a map it is a dense knot of lanes on a summit, linked to the harbour by a winding road. Beyond these two centres a few roads reach small villages, mining sites and beaches around the coast.
Serifos was mined for iron ore for centuries, and traces of that industry remain near Mega Livadi. In Greek myth this is where Perseus grew up and later used Medusa's head to turn King Polydectes to stone. A Serifos map poster frames the island's bays and its high Chora in clean lines.
