Shouguang Map Poster & Print
Shouguang lies on the flat plain of northern Shandong, and its map reflects the openness of that landscape. The urban core is laid out in a broad, regular grid of wide avenues, while the surrounding countryside is divided into long rectangular fields, many of them covered by rows of vegetable greenhouses that show up clearly from the air.
Heading north the land becomes lower and wetter until it reaches the shore of Laizhou Bay, part of the Bohai Sea. Here the pattern changes again into large geometric salt pans and aquaculture ponds, a coastline drawn in straight lines rather than curves. Small rivers and canals cross the plain from south to north on their way to the sea.
Shouguang is a county-level city under Weifang and is widely known as one of China’s leading vegetable-growing centres, hosting a large annual vegetable fair. Salt making along the coast has a very long history as well. A Shouguang map poster shows the regular grid of the city and the orderly plain that feeds it.

Farm road pattern
Around the city, farm roads divide the plain into long rectangular plots, many lined with parallel greenhouses, which gives the outer map a finely ruled, striped structure.
Laizhou Bay shore
To the north, the coast is lined with salt pans and ponds, their straight embankments creating a grid of water along the edge of the Bohai Sea.
