Compact town core
The built-up centre is small and tightly drawn. It holds most of the fine street detail and serves as the visual anchor of the poster.

De kaart
Youxi Map Poster & Print
Youxi lies in the rural southwest of Chongqing municipality, a landscape of steep hills, narrow valleys and farmland cut into terraces. From above, the town is a compact cluster of streets set on the lower ground, with the surrounding roads bending and doubling back as they follow the contours.
The mountainous country around Chongqing leaves little room for straight lines. Roads keep close to streams and valley floors, and settlements form wherever the land flattens enough to build. On a monochrome print this gives a pleasing contrast: a dense knot of town streets surrounded by looping rural routes and scattered clusters of buildings.
A Youxi map poster is a portrait of a modest place and not a famous one. It is a reminder of a hometown in the Chongqing hills, where the shape of the land decides where every road goes. For anyone with roots here, it records the routes they know.

Contour-following roads
Outside the centre, roads curve with the valleys and hillsides. They form loose loops that reflect the terrain even without shading.
Scattered hamlets
Small groups of buildings are spread across the surrounding slopes, typical of the farmed hill country of southwest Chongqing.
