Ar Rass sits in the Al-Qassim region of central Saudi Arabia, on the flat interior plateau of Najd. From above, the city shows the broad, regular street pattern of modern Saudi towns, with wide roads dividing it into large blocks. Around it, the landscape is dotted with farms, date groves and the circular green fields produced by centre-pivot irrigation.
The town lies in the area of Wadi al-Rummah, the long dry valley that crosses this part of Arabia, and agriculture has long depended on groundwater here. Al-Qassim is known for its dates, and farms press up against the urban edge. An Ar Rass map poster turns this pattern into geometry: straight streets on one side, circles and plots on the other.
