Artesia is one of the smallest cities in Los Angeles County, about a square and a half miles of low-rise streets between Cerritos, Norwalk and Bellflower. It takes its name from the artesian wells that once made this part of the basin good dairy and farming land.
From above, it is a classic Southern California grid. Wide arterials frame the city, and quieter residential blocks fill the squares between them.
