Artik Map Poster & Print
Artik is a town in Armenia's Shirak province, on the high plateau at the western foot of Mount Aragats. From above, it looks orderly: a fairly regular street plan on open ground, with fields and quarries around it and the mountain's slopes rising to the east.
The town is known above all for its tuff, a soft volcanic stone, often pinkish, that has been quarried here for generations and used in buildings across Armenia. Nearby stands Lmbatavank, a small early medieval church, one of several old monuments in the area around the town.
