Azazga lies in the province of Tizi Ouzou, in the heart of Kabylie in northern Algeria. The town is built on hilly ground, and its streets bend to follow the slopes. From above, the map shows a compact centre with roads leading out through valleys and along ridges, linking Azazga to villages spread across the surrounding hills.
East of the town lies the forest of Yakouren, known for its cork oaks and zeen oaks, one of the notable woodlands of Kabylie. On the map, this appears as a large area with few roads, contrasting with the denser settlement of the town and nearby villages. The coast is not far to the north.
