Babu is the central urban district of Hezhou, a city in the northeast of Guangxi near the borders with Guangdong and Hunan. The landscape around it is hilly and green. On a map the district's streets gather in the flatter valley land, where the river and roads have made room for a town.
A river winds through the urban area and gives the map its main curve. Streets on either side mostly run parallel or perpendicular to its banks, and bridges stitch the two halves together. Beyond the centre the road network thins out quickly into villages, fields and wooded slopes.
