Baldwin Park lies in the San Gabriel Valley, east of downtown Los Angeles. From above, it is a flat grid of long residential blocks. Its edges are drawn by infrastructure: the San Bernardino Freeway runs along the south, and concrete washes and flood-control channels cut diagonally across the valley floor.
The San Gabriel River and Walnut Creek pass nearby. To the north, large gravel pits and the Santa Fe Dam recreation area interrupt the suburban texture with wide open shapes. Main streets such as Ramona Boulevard cross the city, lined with shops and small commercial plots.
