Dahmani sits on the high plateau of the Kef Governorate, in the interior of northwest Tunisia. From above, the town reads as a tight, compact cluster of streets surrounded by wide agricultural land, where field boundaries and country roads replace the dense grain of the centre. The region has been settled for a very long time. The remains of Althiburos, an ancient Numidian and later Roman town, lie a short distance from Dahmani, and the surrounding countryside has long been known for cereal farming.
