This Dungu lies in Mai-Ndombe Province, in the western part of the Congo Basin. It is not the better-known town of the same name in the north-east. The land here is low, well watered and heavily forested, with rivers and marshes shaping where people can build and travel. On a map, the settlement appears as a cluster of lanes and paths in a mostly green landscape.
Mapping in this part of the Democratic Republic of the Congo is thinner than in most places, and the print reflects that honestly.
