Ennigerloh lies in the Warendorf district of the Münsterland, a region of level farmland, hedgerows and scattered farmsteads. On a map, the town forms a compact core with residential streets spreading out in all directions, surrounded by a patchwork of fields and small woods, and linked to nearby villages by straight country roads.
The town has long been associated with the cement industry, which grew here thanks to local limestone deposits.
