Erlin is a township in the south of Changhua County, on the wide alluvial plain of western Taiwan near the Zhuoshui River. From above, the land is completely flat. The town forms a compact cluster of streets, and around it farmland is divided into a fine patchwork of fields, roads and irrigation channels.
The area is known for its agriculture, and Erlin in particular for grapes. Vineyards and fruit growing have long been part of the township's identity. The small, carefully divided plots around the town show that intensive farming clearly on the map.
