Fatsa is on the Black Sea coast of Ordu Province in northern Turkey. From above, the town is long and narrow. The sea forms an almost straight edge to the north, the coastal highway runs just behind it, and the built-up area climbs only a short way before the hills take over.
Those hills are covered in hazel orchards. Ordu is the heart of Turkey's hazelnut production, and Turkey grows most of the world's hazelnuts. On the map, the slopes behind Fatsa show as a dense pattern of winding lanes and scattered houses that follow the contours. Small rivers cut down through them to reach the sea.

The main road runs parallel to the sea through the whole town. It is the strongest line on the map, and most streets branch off it.
