Findlay is the seat of Hancock County in north-western Ohio. From above, it has the classic structure of a Midwestern county seat: a regular grid of streets centred on a main commercial corridor, surrounded by residential blocks and, beyond them, the flat, carefully divided farmland of the region.
The Blanchard River winds through the city from east to west, its meanders crossing the grid and bringing parks and floodplain into the middle of town. Interstate 75 runs along the western side. Findlay is home to the headquarters of Marathon Petroleum and to the University of Findlay, and it is widely known by its nickname, Flag City, USA.
