Gangshang is a town in the far north of Jiangsu province, in the Xuzhou area close to the Shandong border. The land here is part of the wide, flat North China Plain, and the map shows that clearly: a compact built-up centre, roads that run mostly straight, and an even pattern of farmland stretching out on all sides.
