Garfield Heights lies immediately southeast of Cleveland in Cuyahoga County, Ohio. From above, it is a dense inner-ring suburb, with a close grid of residential streets of single-family homes on small lots, much of it built in the first half of the twentieth century.
The city is named after President James A. Garfield, an Ohio native. Its largest green space, Garfield Park Reservation, is part of the Cleveland Metroparks system. On a map it shows as a broad wooded area with winding trails and a stream valley cutting through the street pattern.
