Halver is a small town in the Märkischer Kreis in North Rhine-Westphalia, on the western edge of the Sauerland uplands. The centre sits on relatively high ground, and from it roads fan out across rolling hills toward a large number of outlying hamlets and farmsteads, which give the municipality its dispersed, intricate pattern on the map.
