Heusenstamm lies in the Offenbach district in Hesse, south of Frankfurt and Offenbach. From above, the most striking thing is the forest. Large woodland areas surround the town on several sides, so the built-up area looks like a defined clearing. The streets inside are a mix of older lanes near the centre and later residential blocks with regular, gently curving roads.
At the historic core stands a Baroque palace associated with the Schönborn family, together with a gatehouse from the same period. These older buildings and their grounds form a small, distinctive area on the map, surrounded by newer housing. Roads and a rail line connect the town to the wider Frankfurt Rhine-Main region.
