Jiangjia is a town in Chongqing municipality, in the hilly terrain north of the main urban area. From above, its streets follow the shape of the ground, running along valley floors and curving around slopes instead of forming a straight grid. The built-up area is shaped by the hills around it, with open land beyond the last streets.
The Chongqing region is famous for its steep terrain, and even smaller towns show it on the map. Roads twist to gain height, neighbourhoods sit on whatever flatter ground is available, and fields and woodland fill the slopes in between. Jiangjia shares that pattern on a smaller, quieter scale.
