Jieshou is a county-level city in northwestern Anhui, under Fuyang, near the border with Henan. It sits on the wide Huaibei plain, where the land is flat and mostly farmed. The Shaying River, a major tributary of the Huai, runs past the city. On the map, it is the main natural line in an otherwise open landscape.
The city itself has a dense older centre and newer districts around it, laid out in a broad grid with long, straight avenues. Industrial zones are on the edges. Beyond them, fields, irrigation channels and village roads cover the plain in a fine, regular pattern.
