Kallar Kahar lies in Chakwal district in the Punjab, in the Salt Range, the band of hills that crosses northern Pakistan between the Indus and the Jhelum. Its defining map feature is the lake beside the town, a shallow, saline body of water that fills a basin among the ridges.
