Karhal is a town in Mainpuri district, Uttar Pradesh, in the Doab, the fertile plain between the Ganges and the Yamuna. The land is flat and intensively farmed. On a map, the town appears as a compact cluster of streets where several roads meet, surrounded by an even patchwork of fields.
The centre is a dense web of narrow lanes, typical of market towns on the plain, while newer houses spread along the approach roads.
