Korhogo is the main city of northern Côte d'Ivoire and the capital of the Savanes District. It lies in the savanna country of the north, and the map reflects this setting: a compact centre with roads leading out in several directions across open, lightly wooded land, and neighbourhoods spreading outward in blocks and irregular clusters.
The city is the historic heart of the Senufo people and is known for its crafts, especially Korhogo cloth, hand-painted cotton fabric with bold figures and animals, as well as woodcarving and metalwork produced in villages around the town. It also serves as a market and administrative centre for the whole northern region.
