Lala Musa lies in Gujrat District in Pakistan's Punjab, on the fertile plain between the Jhelum and Chenab rivers. It is best known as a railway junction. The main line between Lahore and Rawalpindi passes through, and a branch leaves here toward Sargodha. On a map, the tracks and the Grand Trunk Road form strong parallel lines through the town.
Around these routes, the streets form a dense, irregular mesh of bazaars and residential lanes, with newer housing on straighter plots toward the edges. Beyond them the land opens into wheat and rice fields crossed by canals and farm tracks and dotted with villages. The terrain is flat, so the lines of rail, road and water dominate the drawing.
